How We’re Paid

WE AREN’T PAID UNTIL YOU ARE

Some attorneys will require a deposit upfront. When you hire Avaness Law, you pay nothing upfront. Our fees come out of the money the insurance company pays you. We don’t receive legal fees unless we are able to obtain recovery for you. That means if we are unable to recover, we are paid nothing.

WHAT PERCENTAGE DO WE CHARGE?*

Almost all personal injury attorneys in California follow the same fee structure.

25% fee, If the injured person is under 18 years of age.

33 ½ % fee, If you are an adult and your case is settled before we file a lawsuit.

45% fee, If the case is resolved after a lawsuit is filed (or arbitration has been demanded).

*This fee structure does not apply to work related injuries

Because our fees come out of the total settlement amount, we have every reason to do our best to obtain maximum recovery for you.

 

COSTS EXPLAINED

In working on your case, oftentimes there are certain expenses that need to be made. For example, a medical service provider may charge for copies of your medical records, or we may need to hire an investigator to obtain witness statements. Any costs incurred on your case will also come of the total settlement. Be assured that we will keep those costs in check. Our goal is to ensure you are justly compensated for your injuries.
